Bosch Mastertech Vci Drivers
hello mates..
I dont know if someone already had posted something about it, but I will share what I had found so far about this new bosch VCI.
The photo below is the new kid in the block...BOSCH VCI
At simple view it looks similar to the BOSCH VCMII used in Ford IDS or Suzuki DSTII, but its NOT...
This VCI have what is called DOiP ( Diagnostic over Internet Protocol)
here is the techincal stuff...I dont undestand most of it..but I had to put this stuff here for the advanced guys or gals in this forum...
Short and simple: “DoIP is the packaging of diagnostic messages in Ethernet frames for communication of a diagnostic tester with a vehicle”
• DoIP is a standardized diagnostic transport protocol according to ISO 13400
• DoIP is used in combination with the standardized diagnostic protocol UDS (ISO 14229-5: UDSonIP)
• Services of UDSonIP are identical to UDSonCAN
• DoIP with Ethernet 100 Base-TX instead of CAN enables substantial higher bandwidth
• Vehicle access with DoIP is backwards compatible using discretionary pins of the existing diagnostic connector
• DoIP enables easy integration into various network structures, even with WLAN
• Performant handling of huge data volumes
•Time-saving at ECU Flash Programming
• Cost-efficient because no VCI is necessary
• Simple integration to IT Infrastructure
• Flexible use because of standardized communication
• Integrated with other standards for vehicle diagnosis
• Future-proof technology enables various use cases.
Now...this is again a simple strategy from BOSCH to gain more OEM manufacturers , they already done it with DOiP for land rover and jaguar...now they want Mercedes too...
But, to be honest I hope this new VCI is more simple to update its firmware than its predecesor SDCONNECT....that SDCONNECT is a pain in the ass when you try to update the firmware...and I am not only talking about the good or bad clones either...all SDCONNECT are a pain.....
Special cables that connects from the OBDII cable to other adapters is available...at least from the mercedes.. see attached photo for cable descriptions.
Mercedes already said that SDCONNECT is no longer available, but they will continue give support at least for 2 more years...after that SDCONNECT will be gone.
I am not sure if new VCI can do trucks or buses..I already contacted Mercedes and asked about it....lets see if they answer back..and of course I will let you guys and gals know my findings...
I saw a few other chinese companies offering a clone DOiP for mercedes....I had not tested it yet...but I will soon do all tests and let you guys know what I had found...
cheers....
